Vaults

Signed documents pile up fast, and loose folders have no owner and no rules. Vaults bring real access control: each document lives in a vault, and the vault defines who can see it.

Set the scope of each vault, share with the people who need it and mark the ones you use most as favorites. Even a deletion by mistake can be undone.

Access control, decided at the vault

Access is decided at the vault, not document by document: picking the right vault already settles who sees what.

Account vaults

Every user on the account sees what lives here. It is the place for what circulates between teams: standard contracts, policies, reference documents.

User vaults

Personal: only the user themselves has access. Work in progress stays organized without exposing anything to the rest of the account.

Group vaults

Shared with the members you choose. The whole group sees the same documents, and whoever is outside has no access.

Organized from creation

The envelope is born in the right vault

When you create the envelope, you pick the vault — and that is where documents and the certificate live, from first draft to final file.

Completed? There is no filing step: the signed file and certificate are already in place, with the vault access control in effect from the very first second.

Envelopes and templates, side by side

The vault stores the signed document — and the template that creates it. Every team keeps both in one place.

Permissions and collaboration

Group access, without forwarding copies

Set up a group vault, choose which users participate and that is it: everything that lands there becomes visible to those people, with no forwarding and no duplicates.

Whoever joins the group sees everything already there, history included — and whoever leaves loses access instantly.

Global search

That file from years ago, one search away

A document filed in the vault never gets lost in time: global search finds it by file name, client or the envelope that created it — in a fraction of a second.

One field covers vaults, envelopes, documents, contacts and signers — and it opens from any screen of the account.

Search and trash

Find fast, recover what was deleted

That sinking "I deleted the wrong contract" feeling does not exist here: deleting a document only removes it from the listing.

Deletion is logical (soft-delete): the file stays stored and comes back from the trash in one click, exactly as it was.

Integration

A sandbox vault for your integration

Create a vault in sandbox mode and your staging gets a home of its own: test envelopes are born there, never touching the real documents of the account.

During development, authentication factors run in simplified mode — you validate the whole flow without bothering real signers.

Frequently asked questions

Who sees what is in a group vault?

Only the group members. You choose which users on the account participate, and every document in that vault becomes accessible to them. Users outside the group have no access to the vault.

Where does a completed envelope go?

Into the same vault where it was born: the envelope is created already linked to a vault, and documents and the certificate stay there from start to finish — there is no filing step.

I deleted a document by mistake. Now what?

It is in the trash. Deletion on Signater is logical (soft-delete): the document leaves the listing but is not erased, and you can restore it from the trash whenever you want.

Are vaults available on all plans?

Yes. Account, user and group vaults are part of Starter, Business and Enterprise, along with favorites, search and the trash. There is no minimum plan for organizing documents with access control.

Can I manage vaults through the API?

Yes. Vaults are one of the integration API's resources, alongside envelopes, documents, templates and contacts.
